Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) visited Interalpin this week, the world-leading fair for cable transport technologies, snow management and alpine infrastructure, to learn about the latest developments in the sector focused on offering innovative and sustainable solutions for high mountain tourism throughout the year.
The president of FGC, Carles Ruiz Novella, accompanied by the general director, Alicia Valle Cantalejo, and the director of FGC Turisme, Toni Sanmartí Rovira, and his team, were able to learn about the latest developments in state-of-the-art cable transport systems for alpine and urban environments, innovative snow production systems, new designs of snow plows, specialized vehicles for track maintenance and rescues, intelligent access and charging systems as well as other advanced security, monitoring and sustainable energy management solutions in high-altitude areas.
One of the most innovative aspects of the fair was urban mobility through cable transport. Researchers and infrastructure managers discussed the future prospects, possible applications and the integration of cable transport in urban environments as an alternative to public transport in European metropolises.
Interalpin, which has been held every two years since 1974 at the Messezentrum in Innsbruck, brings together professionals from the alpine sector from all over the world. In this edition, more than 650 exhibitors presented the latest innovations and technological solutions.
