Mountain ski competition weekend in Vall de Núria
The ski and mountain resort of Vall de Núria is hosting this weekend, March 7 and 8, two mountain skiing competitions: the fourth edition of the Cursa l'Esquella de la Luna and the twentieth edition of the Pocatraça Race. Mountain skiing tests that have already been consolidated in the annual calendar of the Ripollès resort managed by FGC.
Saturday, March 7 is the turn of the Cursa l'Esquella de la Luna, the classic time-ski mountaineering in a very unique environment, under the moonlight. This year the race celebrates its fourth edition, where one of the main challenges is to reach the finish line at night. The route begins with the sound of the ears from Vall de Núria and reaches the summit of Puigmal (2913 m), passing through the valley of the Embut. At the end and after descending skiing all the unevenness that the athletes will climb, there will be a popular sausage and dance.
On Sunday, March 8, another classic race will take place in Vall de Núria, a test that is being celebrated this year. This is the Pocatraça Mountain Skiing Race that reaches its 20th edition. This test knows how to find the most interesting corners of the valley, combining technique and effort to reach the finish line. This race is joined by another date, as the 5th edition of the Sant Bernat Trophy will be held in parallel, an individual popular march. These two mountain ski races come from the Center Excursionista Olot and are scored for the individual Championship of Catalonia.
